  19. Hello everyone how are you all keeping?  Well I hope! Anyway I'm back so to 
  20. speak, sorry I was not here last month but the old computer let me  down, I 
  21. had already written a Chit Chat and a letter to James,saved them to my hard 
  22. drive to sort out some disks etc. and then the little devil went to heaven.
  23. It  then  took  me over a week  to  get  back  on-line.  The  problem  was; 
  24. November  last year I moved to a new address and somewhere  along the  line 
  25. the  power lead had a nasty knock or got bent at  a funny angle and so  the 
  26. live wire inside the cable had snapped in two and was just making contact so 
  27. just  before  the computer had gone dead on me I must have  some  how  have 
  28. knocked or moved the lead,  anyway one new lead later and all is well again 
  29. so you have all got to put up with me again.
  30.  
  31. Now  the  bit  a  had wrote last time is out of date  so  let's talk  about 
  32. something  else.  I was also going to  write a little bit about a  computer 
  33. clearance  sale  down my neck of the woods but (not having a  lot  of  luck 
  34. lately) the new car I got about four weeks ago let me down. I got 200 yards 
  35. down  the  road and the bloody thing let me down and came to  a  halt.  The 
  36. problem  was one of the sensors to the engine had worked its  way lose  and 
  37. there was no contact so there was  no  firing  of  the  engine  that's fuel 
  38. injected.  Anyway an hour and  a half later and all was well but I  was  so 
  39. pissed off that I went down the  pub instead. 
  40.  
  41. It's getting near the dead line now so what shall I speak about instead?  I 
  42. know; how about Cannon Fodder,lovely game, yes,really enjoying it. I got to 
  43. mission 7, phase 1 and got my first troop killed at  the  first  hut  by  a
  44. bazooka and the BLOODY  game then crashed on me!  Well what have I done  in 
  45. this life to  deserve all this bad luck?  I don't know but anyway, on  with 
  46. the point.  Let's see had I done  something  wrong?  Was my hard drive  and 
  47. 2nd disc  drive  still  attached?  I disconnected all peripherals and  then 
  48. had another go but the same thing happened again.  I tried once   more  but
  49. the    same thing   happened   again.  I then tryed another way so as    to  
  50. complete  Phase  1 thinking that there was just a small bug on  that  phase 
  51. (with me so far).  I went on to complete  Phase 1 and 2 and then onto Phase 
  52. 3.  Half way along, swimming along a river, "oh look  out  a bazooka!".   I
  53. got killed and yes, you've guessed it, it CRASHED!   So  what  the hell  is 
  54. going on here?  I don't spend my hard earned wages on shit like this  so  I 
  55. went and sat down with a cup of tea and a magazine to read and blow  me, in  
  56. the letters page someone had written in with the very same  problem. Virgin 
  57. get stuffed! Anyway I'll ring them later to see what they have to say about 
  58. it all but if anyone has any ideas or can help me with this, please  get in 
  59. contact with me thanks (address at foot of page).

  61. While I'm in a good moody frame of mind, is it any wonder that Atari owners 
  62. don't buy so many games as other computer format owners?  If  this  is  the 
  63. sort of crap the games firms come up with...This is by all  means  not  the 
  64. only game I've  had trouble with but at least they don't bloody crash on me 
  65. like Cannon  Fodder!  Well, I think that's enough  about  that  little,  no 
  66. that's wrong, -BIG- problem.

  68. Right what shall I say now, how about "PC"?  Yes it's that  dreaded  format 
  69. that I'm about to talk about and ask in a kind of way that  is  very,  very  
  70. silly...But that's me all over (just ask James)!  Anyway I like to read all 
  71. different mags  and books of all sorts and this word PC keeps  popping  up.
  72. Now  here comes  the  silly  bit, PC stands for PERSONAL COMPUTER yes  well  
  73. what  the bloody  hell is an ATARI then?  It's a personal  computer to  me,
  74. A personal computer just like an Amiga and all the  others.  They  are  the 
  75. owners  'personal computers' so PC is the wrong thing to call PC's,  now  I 
  76. bet you are  getting confused  (I am!).  What I'm trying to say  is   to  a  
  77. newcomer  who  reads  all this  PC rubbish and thinks, "I'll get a Personal 
  78. Computer"  then they may end up with a PC thinking that that is  their only 
  79. option. The ST and all the others are Personal Computers so PC's should not 
  80. be called  PC's, they  can call them what they like for all I care  but  PC 
  81. is not a  make  of computer  or  and abbreviation for its operating  system 
  82. (well not to me anyway) or  anything.  The  letters  PC  should  stand  for 
  83. "PERSONAL CRAP!".  Well, it must do as they could not come up with a proper  
  84. name  for  that design  of  computer  and I don't care      what     anyone 
  85. says,  it's  the  wrong bloody word.

  87. If PC's are so good how come book shelves are full of instructions how   to 
  88. run Windows ect ect?  Anyway, at the end of the day I'm not having a go  at 
  89. PC owners, it is their system they like and use It's just the word "PC"....
  90. It's so bloody stupid.

  92. Well  I  think I have said enough for this time and I   shall now just talk 
  93. about one last thing.  Just to prove someone, somewhere has it  in for  me, 
  94. the other  day I needed some info and the only place I could think  of  was 
  95. Norwich  Central Library (mind you I have not been there  for  years  now),
  96. well anyway, just two days  after  me thinking it's the place  to  go,  the 
  97. whole place  went up  in flames!  Well  bugger me now, what do I do?   I'll 
  98. have to go  somewhere  else that's all but sadly  the library lost a lot of
  99. books,  paperwork,  world war 2 material ect. which they will never be able 
  100. to replace,  sad old world init?  Well that's me finished for sure  now, so

  115.         THOUGHT HE HAD SORTED OUT THE PROBLEM BUT HAS NOW FOUND
  116.         THAT THE CRASHING HAS JUST MOVED TO DIFFERENT PARTS  OF
  117.         THE GAME.   THE PRODUCERS SAY THAT IT IS  SOMETHING  TO
  118.         DO WITH HAVING OVER 1 MEG OF MEMORY (DALE HAS 4  MEGS!)
  119.         SO IF STEER CLEAR OF CANNON FODDER IF YOU'VE  GOT  MORE
  120.         THAN A MEG OF MEMORY UNLESS YOU KNOW OF A  CERTAIN  WAY
